Taper lock pulleys are either V belt, timing belt, flat belt or multi-groove belt pulleys that uses a taper lock bush to fix the pulley to a shaft. Various sizes of taper lock pulleys use different sizes of taper lock bushes which is limited to a maximum shaft size per taper lock size, all of which are supplied by Bearing Man Group. V belt and multi-groove taper lock pulleys are normally manufactured from spherical iron but can also be supplied in steel upon request. Timing belt and flat belt taper lock pulleys are normally supplied in steel. The new Fenner v belt taper lock pulley utilizes a short reach taper lock bush which allows for bigger bore sizes compared to the longer taper lock bushes used on other brands of v belt taper lock pulleys. When installing a taper lock pulley, care should be taken to make sure that the shaft and taper lock is clean and that all screws on the taper lock has been torqued to the correct settings. Most V belt taper lock pulleys are standard off the shelf items. Multi-groove, timing belt and flat belt taper lock pulleys are ex manufacture with some timing belt pulleys being off the shelf items.
